All brands fail sooner or later. Knocking and dropping them does not help.

There is no disk available where you can be sure of no issues. Why do you think that such disks exist? A sensible way to cope with real life is to use backups, but even backups have limitations...

Please list which disks you are considering from your local country / market. Then you might get some comments from members about which disk(s) they would choose from your list (but without a guarantee of "no issues"). There is no value in me making suggestions of disk models, without you providing your list of what is available to you, as I could spend time listing disks which you cannot buy in your local country / market!

Edited to add:
@labtech - Agreed completely :)

Actually, I am sorry. I do have some suggestions as far as what to stay away from.

For example, built in encryption, flimsy USB ports, design where the external drive stands in a position that can easily fall or tilt over - typically those with some sort of a leg stand.

Although not sure there are any around, avoid something that necessitates a power adapter. Why? Because many people mix up the external's adapter with other, like from a laptop from example.

I would also avoid using pre-installed automatic backup software. Quite often they are not doing what they are supposed to do. Old school ways are the safest.

Hope this helps a little more.

Hi
I suggest following -

Hitachi 2.5" Hard disks -- prefer 5400 RPM model as they are more stable & consume less power.
Hitachi has far less failure rate than seagate.

I suggest following USB 3. Casing , company is in US so you can get it easily.
it supports 1 TB disk and is reliable

I think is not so important as long as you have backup. If your data is on 2 x physical hard disks at any time chances of data loss from 2 simultaneously is highly unlikely.
