The VCD is not accessible via ordinary means. You need to disable it via an appropriate firmware update.

Otherwise here is a way to get rid of it completely:
disk-with-sata-usb-adapter-remove-virtual-rom-t18492-20.html

Your drive may be different, though.

My disk is a Clickfree.

Hello

Thank you for contacting ClickFree support.

The CDFS partition cannot be removed from the Clickfree as the software resides on a chip inside the device and there is no way to format that partition.

We hope that we were able to assist you with your inquiry. If you are still experiencing any difficulties with your Clickfree device, please contact us again.
See the link below to take a look at the FAQs or full user manual for your ClickFree device.

Sincerely,

ClickFree Support

Why do you want to remove the VCD? Do you have some compatibility issue, eg with a TV or PVR?

In that case all I can suggest is Gaucho's solution, assuming the internals are an OEM version of a WD SmartWare product:
disk-with-sata-usb-adapter-remove-virtual-rom-t18492-20.html

Thanks tot Hayel2ko  I've found a solution to this problem!!
http://windowssecrets.com/forums/showth ... post838182

I've tried it and it works great!!
I've used "Version 255.31.3.41.22", as on the site is says "Version 255.31.2.41.22". I've contacted Hayel and indeed it should be version 3 instead of 2. He's going to edit that on the site.
And at dot 5 there was some text before "JMS539" something like ..55.. before it.
After formatting the disk (on my iMac) for the full 1 TB the flashing light is still working... :( I hoped it would stop working as in the description.
So now I'm happy :yayaya:

Hayel has edit his posting and add this:
"For users that didn't get jms539 next to chip, you will have to open the external hard drive enclosure and find the sata controller chip, write down the model number and use that to find yourself a solution because you can't always depend on the internet on something like this. You have to start doing things by yourselfs and again not my responsibility if you screw up your external hard drive."

So perhaps you can do this?
Or what Villeda did

Which chip does it have?

Do you see any problems now that the VCD is gone? AISI, the bridge firmware will still be looking for the VCD "partition".

first of all, sorry for my bad English. Free translation made by google:
The first thing was to try a low-level format the disk without removing the case, but this did not work.

I opened the case, remove the disk and plugged the sata port, from the Windows disk manager delete partitions and quick format. When you connect back to the case Clickfree reappear ntfs partition and the virtual CD. (you must highlight the fact that the data partition was 298 GB)

I removed the disc again the case, I connected to sata port, and this time I used HDD guru low level format tool, format the disk, create a single partition. Reconnected to the case Clickfree and this time the virtual CD is gone, windows recognize the disk, but asks me to initialize, create and format partitions using windows. (the new partition is 300GB)

Apparently the chip in the case can not format the disk boot sector, so that no elminate partitions, the low-level format from the port sata removes all traces of the two partitions.

Original en español:

Quote:

The chip: initio inic 1610l

Problems: not, yet

the bridge firmware will still be looking for the VCD "partition": No, I do not see the VCD partition in Disk Manager. And the new data partition now occupies all available space.
