Loki, this is for you quick Tip if the LAMP is driving you crazy sometimes reading
i used one of the DEAD LCD`s reflector from inside instead of the Black BG.

you can see, without the LAMP is PERFECT.

i just added small Circle on this to put my things Quick instead of moving every time looking for the Place i wanted to focus ON.

One of my friends which i told him: I ALWAYS RECYCLE THINGS FOR OTHER USEFUL THINGS.

heheh

Good Luck

BTW, i forgot to mention Loki, Am ordering another one: HD High Definition VIDEO Digital Microscope
in order to record my TINY Soldering chips. just for FUN

Eric said, it is expensive little, but still waiting for my Brain to cook the subject more for ordering hehehe

On the topic of gadgets from Eric, have any of you got the IRDA Welder T862++ that he sells, the infrared rework station?

I got a T862++ in my lab. Not from Mr.Eric, but I reckon this tool is the same from whatever source. Skipping the mandatory price/quality comment, here are my experiences:

At the time it was purchased, the idea was to get a small footprint IR machine for small PCBs (as it's 12x12cm preheater suggests). However, the T862++ has got a number of issues:

  • Not only is the preheater small, it is also not powerful. The preheater will hardly be able to push the temperature under the PCB over 100 degrees Celcius. Possibly less if you are running some kind of smoke absorber nearby. In my opinion too low for leadless boards.
  • It got temperature controls for IR and preheat, but there is no real (feedback) control for the temperatures. Then these controls are simply power controls. Which means you have use external thermo couplers in order to be in control.
  • And lastly, the machine has got no support for storing and executing soldering profiles.

I use a hot air rework station to lift small SMD components. Although I have to admit the non-blowing T862++ can be handy to solder these. Apply some tin on the PCB, flux, align component, preheat, and then turn on the IR. Done!

The picture linked below shows the NVRAM from a HTS7232 which was soldered to a test board in this way. The jpg compression is playing havoc with the picture. The small test board is much cleaner than it looks.

I once tested by lifting and resoldering the MCUs of ten HDD boards using the T862++. My success rate was 40 percent. Disastrous, but might be improved...

The T862++ falls between most stools. Easy tasks (U12s) can be done with simpler tools, and it is not up for more advanced work.

Thank you for that useful review. I've just ordered a decent hot air station so I'll see how I get along with that.

Delayed update, but the Gordak rework station purchased from Eric works like a dream. Another +1 to Eric for his service and products.
