friends I want to buy a new external hdd,I have decided WESTERN DIGITAL My Passport
Essential SE 1TB,but the reviews I heard are it cannot be connected as internal(by opening the case),is it true??
please suggest me some external HDDs which can be connected both externally and internally.....
they may be 1 tb or 2 tb

I have bought several Ext WD's and removed the internal 3.5" SATA drive for use in a desktop. Most WD's internal USB to SATA board encrypts the drive so you can't go back and forth and you about destroy the case getting it out and void the warranty. The Seagates come out easier in my opinion no encryption. If your goal is to buy the ext drive to get the drive out for use inside a PC then your good to go with the larger external drives the small drives laptop size externals WD's have a unique USB only NOT sata connector on them so they do not work for internal sata connected drives. The seagates are still sata connectors at least the last 1TB I bought and removed was.

Maybe where he is located they are ? I know when HDD's prices spiked last year for a short period externals were cheaper and all we could get our hands on at the time.

If this was the OP's goal was to save money, then do not buy a WD 2.5" form factor as it is likely to be USB based interface drive. Also, same applies for the newer Samsung externals.
Alternatives? Seagate, Hitachi, Toshiba, etc.

Yes, to my experience all seagate externals could be connected internally with SATA with no problems.

Thanks for the info. That's very strange. It is the other way round, where I live.

Anyway, go for the Seagates then (dont use Blackarmours, they're encrypted) or Hitachi's.
