CR2032 Battery for Motherboard - Best Brand?

January 19th, 2013, 17:22

Does anyone have a preference for the best brand of CR2032 battery for a motherboard?

I need to replace mine and want to find one with the best lifespan.

Thanks.

Why bother for a thing that cost max. 1 $ ? Even if you change 1 per year...

I lost my RAID 1 configuration the last I changed the battery. So it means transferring all the data ooff the good drive, then re-establishing the RAID 1, and then transferring all the data back on the RAID 1 array.

SO, that is definately something I do not want to do once a year.

Usually Battery life stands 1-3y (sometimes more)
and there is no relation with RAID, unless battery effects the bios only (easily restored)

not a big deal

FYI, most raid controllers stores config inside the controller

good luck

I believe replacing my battery did affect the settings of my BIOS. Is there a way I can change the battery in the future and not lose my BIOS settings, and RAID settings?

I'm an old school tech, so I change it with the power on. Being careful not to short anything. And oftentimes a removable strip of paper helps in the process.

But for those of you wanting to retain bios settings without doing it my way.. There's always pencil and paper. Don't be a lazy ass, write those settings down!

That's an idea. So am I correct that the MB battery only functions when the power to the computer is shut off?

I assume the battery only activates while the computer is powered down....
