We have laptop service too. IMHO it is possible but if you take "economic" point of view it doesn't make sense.

apparently:
from Google
upgrade emmc in laptop
this page
https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/318473/Replacing+emmc+32Gb+with+128Gb+compatibility+sockethas a link that appears to show this exact operation:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGZkKrWKhEsAs they say, The MoBo needs to support it. not sure how you would find that out as probably not a spec they would publish being the storage is not intended to user upgrade.

eMMC must be same bga type, e.g. BGA153, brand or size should not play the role in laptops as I dont think there is any RAM used from emcp chips.
Some protection could involve rmpb partition, depending on how vendor wants to prevent users from upgrading capacity - in that case it will be hard to get it to work.
I remember once I helped one customer with some lenovo laptop and emmc, and there was no big troubles to get it to work, sadly I forgot the details.

I already got 2 for testing (as mentioned before very cheap)... and ordered my 128gb (on the way) for testing
I don`t mind investing little for such a good deal in hand.
