Hi

Today when I tried to check a jpeg attached on a post, I got a message from Google Safe Browsing and blocked the page.
Anyone is also getting this?

I'm using FF on Linux...

If you are referring to @einstein9's recent flash JPEGs, I didn't receive any browser alerts. I was simply curious as to which device was used to generate the images, so I examined the file with a hex editor. That's when I noticed the zeros. In fact when I used 7Zip to compress the JPEG, the size was reduced by 10KB.

I'm using FF on Windows and had no problem opening the images -- because I had earlier disabled the option "Deceptive Content and Dangerous Software Protection - Block dangerous and deceptive content" under Tools, Options, Privacy and Security.

Just disabled this setting myself. I am disappointed that the setting has to be completely disabled, instead of the ability of the user to whitelist a site. Here is the link that I think best explains it:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/ho ... =inproduct

Look at "I’ve confirmed that my site is safe, how do I get it removed from the lists?". It offers a probably mostly useless way to report a site you think should be removed from the list of reported phishing sites.

And to my last post I would like to add a big FU to Google for flagging benign or otherwise non-harmful files files as being harmful, and also a big FU to FF for not having a whitelist option for that setting. When you make things so "secure" that the users can't do what they need, the user will just completely turn off the security, which then makes things even more insecure, which completely defeats the original purpose.

This is (I think) everywhere in most browsers,,, kind of safety thing to prevent the scripts from running locally
add the website to the whitelist temp.

Some of Malware Apps. reports the same even if you add the websites to the whitelist

security software, to put it bluntly, is a shitshow. Just last month our enterprise software Cortex XDR flagged its OWN UPDATE file as malicious, and deleted it. The software we replaced was McAfee Endpoint Protection, and we couldn't even upgrade win10 to later releases because McAfee was detected as not being supported by Win 10. Many, Many more issues with these were encountered, along with other security software in a similar boat.

I won't even go into the "fun" we have had with web browsers and pretty much most of the internet not being able to code to run on more than 2 browsers properly, if that.

I'm getting the message on attachments in Chrome today as well. Went to open a jpg of an SSD pinout and was greeted by a red screen. I think it's because the site has custom software available in the files section which Chrome doesn't recognize and the pages are crawlable. It's for this very reason that I put things like HDD !Profiles resources on a NAS behind a login and password rather than directly hosting them on my site/forum.

Mostly likely some piece of code in a binary fire or program looked fishy to Google's AV and flagged the whole domain.

I've turned off protection for hddguru only from here:

(it's in greek, but you get the point).

Now everything works as it should on this site only.

Maybe that works for files that get flagged, but I don't get that option when going to the site hddoracle, which is red flagged by Google for containing possible harmful programs.

Edit: LOL I uploaded the jpeg (oops it is png) image and tried to view it on here after I posted and it was flagged the same way, with no option to allow it as in your image. :(

Okay, after ignoring and choosing to proceed anyway I did see the option, and I can see that I added the site(s) to the exception list. But it didn't help at all, for either viewing my own uploaded image on here or the hddoracle website. I had to turn the setting back off. :?

FlashExtractor files in download section can't be downloaded, Chrome reports them as malicious. Who's owner of HDDGuru, is he/she aware about all this?

Chrome and FF don't let you download. Edge has no issues downloading

As stated above, for FF disable the option "Deceptive Content and Dangerous Software Protection - Block dangerous and deceptive content"

For Chrome go to Settings - Privacy and Security - Security - Safe Browsing and chose "No protection".

You can use a proxy server, eg webproxy.to.

I have added this feature to my browser's r-click context menu via this extension:

https://github.com/YoshifumiFuyuno/Search-from-Popup-or-ContextMenu

It works in Edge, but it should also work in Firefox.

In the "Extension options", choose GET for method, and "http://webproxy.to/browse.php?u={linkurl(encodeURIComponent)}&b=5&f=norefer" for [SPC] open Options.

I can also send the URL to Virustotal via the context menu using the same extension.

The options are GET and "https://www.virustotal.com/gui/search/{linkurl(encodeURIComponent)}"
