Has anyone used software tools (e.g. WD Marvel Repair Tool) on PCs without any spare SATA slots nor any PCI/PCIe slots for installing an adapter but with Thunderbolt 3 or newer ports (e.g. Microsoft Surface Pro 8 (Thunderbolt 4) and newer) and appropriate cables (e.g. eSATA to SATA with Molex 12V power), adapters (e.g. IOGEAR GTC3DEU, StarTech TB3ESATU31, StarTech PEXESAT322I), and/or other accessories (e.g. SONNETTECH Eco Express SE-I, StarTech TB31PCIEX16, AKiTiO Node Duo)? Regarding WD Marvel Repair Tool, this post on the tool's forum says that the tool only works with patient drives connected either directly to motherboard or indirectly via PCI/PCIe. Since such PCs lack the required ports, I'm wondering if anyone tried such tools with workarounds. I already used WD Marvel Repair Tool on a Windows 7 Ultimate x64 HP Compaq nc6320 laptop, equipped with 2 ExpressCard/54 slots, with an eSATA ExpressCard adapter which the tool actually works on the laptop with the adapter. Laptop is currently decommissioned.
