That meme insert of the kid with the mop - spot on. But we're going to need to have a chat about your use of aluminium tape ...

thanks for the view!

hehe..i know this wasn't a perfect perfect approach to many things.
Even if i took time and got the magic pads to fix the socket, the RAM would have still created problems.

The tape should have come first on the board then flux should have been put..Tapes lose out on adhesiveness any way when they get in contact with isoprop or flux.

I just got some paper tape too..lets see how that turns out..

even my de soldering wick was not a quality braid and on top of it it was 2mm braid that i use for vacuum tube amps :D

My lab just ran out of supplies...now all inventory is set again.

If you recovered the data safely it doesn't matter how you got there. If it were me though Id forget the tape completely, it's not doing anything for you.

My money would be on that crack being pry damage from the previous tech removing the pcb - you have to love them.

Yes no bits were man-slaughtered.
Tapes are debatable.
Yes probably the tech tried to open the PCB in a wrong way from the edge!

I watch everyone's content - mainly to see what Im doing wrong  and to covert their shiny new tools.

The UK is a small place with an over saturation of DR service providers of varying skill levels all vying for the same clients.

hahaha. The music is spooky and it was an accident. I had made this background music that you find at the end of the video and I tried to import my mixdown into Reaper (DAW). Apparently my audio buffers were set wrongly or the audio driver was giving some issues and it made the whole track sluggish and it sounded spooky...i just recorded this new version with the buggy audio driver and BAM we have spooky ear bleeding music. :D

... and you believed that stupid parrot... its advice was just as pointless... why bother with the usb connector and its resistors, you convert to sata anyway :)

... and you don't need to remove the oscillator. Disconnecting the coupling capacitors is enough.

Hey beautiful people. Thanks for watching!

Hi Pepe!!!! so good to see you on this thread. Post clean up and preparation of the resistors and socket, i realized that I had no magic pads and really didnt want to do a jumpering work.

So now we will have another socket reworking video in which the parrot is heart broken because you called him stupid!  (More content)

Fzabkar!!!! hello hello... well you are right. However for mental peace I dont want the USB bridge to chit chat at all with the MCU. (NO TALKING IN MY CLASS!) . I dont know what more control or data signals route from this chip to MCU apart from SATA differential lines.

sorry for your parrot, i hoped he/she would not listen or take it too seriously...

i doubt there are any other signals between the mcu and the bridge than the sata lanes. Anyway, i never bothered blocking the oscillator if the caps were removed and it works seamlessly.
