New HDD in an old PC.

April 30th, 2008, 16:34

Hi :D ,
Acer said to me that it is not possible to replace the original 8.4 GB HDD (Seagate ST38421A) in an old "Aspire Pentium III 500 MHz" with a modern HDD (for an example: "Western Digital 80 GB"). Is this true?
Thank You,
regards,

Mark

Maybe what they meant was that it was not possible for THEM to sell you a drive guaranteed to be compatible. An 80GB PATA drive should work fine.
