Ever had a hard drive go bad on windows, this fix applies to the following Windows OS's:

Does not apply to Windows XP with service pack of 2 or greater os. This has been fixed in those service packs.

Visit this Microsoft Support page for detailed instructions on how to fix this problem. If you are affected you could be using your hard drives on PIO mode. Even if in the device manger says the controllers are using UDMA mode.

I can verify 110% this fix does work, i have been the victim of this bug in the past. Bad Microsoft for leaving this problem for so long without a FIX.
