Tools for hard drive diagnostics, repair, and data recovery

Hi Friends,
Recently a AIX JFS formatted drive came to me for DR.
I used steller'JFS for linux software but no luck it was not able to recognise ...
Is there a difference b/w JFS used by AIX and Linux not sure ...
Can somebody share their experience with steller's JFS tool.
