Meaning of "Verify" using HDDScan Software

This is probably 'obvious' to many of you, but in HDDScan what is the meaning of Verify in Tasks:Surface Tests:Test:Verify? Please tell me what tests are performed when Verify is selected. Thank you...vaughn_k

Verify tells if a sector can be read without errors; this has nothing to do with the physical data in that sector. Just a check if all signals are present and can be read without problems. Data is stored in a very special form on a disk, with lots of controlsignals.

HDDScan doesn't distinguish drives with or w/o data
