Is my HDD broken?

July 29th, 2012, 6:46

Hi. I think i have problem with my HDD. Im using an intel DX58so motherboard with intel core i7-920 LGA 1366 processor, 6MB RAM, ATI radeon HD 5770 1G GDDR5 PCI-E graphics card with windows 7 64bit installed. HDD Western digital sata 1TB .

I've been using this comp for around 1 year until 1 week ago i have problem in starting windows. It turned out to be black screen after the 'starting windows' logo disappear. I've tried reformatting my comp several times and updated all my drivers to the latest ones. Now i can logon to my windows but it is extremely lagging e.g i takes my 5 mins to open my internet explorer, >10 mis when i want to start and installation.

I've performed diagnostic test for my processor, memory card, graphics card and they turn out to have no problem detected. But when i perform chkdsk it'll stuck at stage 4 of 5, file 21566 of 29867 (waited for >10hrs), and i also ran the Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostics -extended test, which stuck at sector 1749952511 of 1953525167.

(i'm only using 1 HDD currently),

Regards,

Andrew Tan
