HDD Raw Copy Tool

July 24th, 2013, 2:19

I used “HDD Raw Copy Tool”.
The issue is I selected the wrong target for the process. I pressed stop button after a few second.
Now the Target HDD became as RAW and it's not accessible.
How can I recover it?

Use WinHex or R-studio to do a file carving and save files on a second empty drive (but you will not retrieve folder structure unless you're lucky).
Then you can try to repair MFT with TESTDISK on the drive you have wrongly over written, if you are lucky you can retrieve also folders structure.

How can I open Imgc files?and see what I actually saved from a sd?

There's no way to directly open imgc files. You could convert an imgc file to a raw image with the raw copy tool, and then mount it with something like http://findandmount.com/
Or, you could use raw copy tool to "restore" the image onto another SD card to verify it.

Oof, I’ve been there. I also used HDD Raw Copy Tool and accidentally selected the wrong target drive. I hit "Stop" after a few seconds, but now the target HDD shows up as RAW and is no longer accessible.
Has anyone been able to recover a drive after this kind of mistake? Any success with tools like TestDisk or EaseUS? I'd appreciate any tips before I try formatting.

If you follow this forum, you would already know which are the best software for this type of data recovery.
UFS Explorer, R-Studio, Runtime GetDataBack Pro, DMDE.

DMDE is very cheap but very good!

If you stopped quickly enough, and if the file system was NTFS, then the file/folder tree will be intact. DMDE should then find your files within seconds. Forget EaseUS and TestDisk.
