SATA disk not detected but still a lot of life in there.

How to mount and recover photos from SATA Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB, which is not detected by system?
Originally was external USB drive.

Now when connected to SATA cable during boot there is normal spin up sound and audible head seek movement but motherboard BIOS doesn't detect the disk.
Windows XP boot from main HDD up takes much longer and feels like disk is still communicating with Windows XP but later it's not visible in Disk Manager.

Any ideas how to make disk visible to XP?
Any more chances to access and recover disk when using USB instead direct mobo SATA?

Thanks

Recuva and Testdisk for Windows obviously can't help now.

Is there any cheap PCI controllers capable to mount such disks?

Seek the assistance of a professional data recovery lab in faraway where your drive can be properly diagnosed and the data recovered.

It's data is not worth of recovery labs high bucks.
Instead I'd like to play myself with this.
