It's a message that always shows up to remind the user that MHDD only supports drives configured as the master on an IDE channel.Mich-C wrote:In this software there is written "slave device not supported". I don't know what it means.
Q: MHDD does not see my drive.
A1: Check Q6 first
A2: If your drive is SLAVE, you have to switch it to MASTER first. I removed SLAVE-devices support from MHDD.
A3: Actually, there is a way of accessing slave devices in MHDD. Press SHIFT+F3, and then look for master hard drive number on the same channel. For example, if the master hard drive number is "3", enter "4" to select slave drive on that cable.

fzabkar wrote:@Mich-C, my answer addressed your question regarding drives configured as "SLAVE" devices. It does not apply to USB devices, only to devices attached to IDE ports on the motherboard.

When I was playing with USB drives under DOS, I found that version 2.15 of Panasonic's USPASPI.SYS driver in conjunction with the "Motto Hairu" DOS Driver, Di1000dd.SYS, enabled me to access an external USB 2.0 HD from within DOS.
My config.sys file had these two lines:device=USBASPI.SYS
The relevant files were extracted from these archives:
device=DI1000DD.SYS
http://panasonic.co.jp/pcc/products/dri ... 2h_usb.exe
http://web.archive.org/web/200306100137 ... 2h_usb.exe

http://web.archive.org/web/201306142325 ... mhairu.zip
My motherboard had an SiS 7002 USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller.
The CONFIG.SYS file is a text file that is placed in the root directory.
