Tools for hard drive diagnostics, repair, and data recovery

The issue I'm having is that the connectors on the drive don't look like any sata drive I've seen before. Maybe the converters I've seen will work but it doesn't look like they will. Cleaning out some stuff after moving and decided to get rid of an old laptop. Kept the HD just to see what was on it and if I wanted to keep anything. The connectors on the drive are flat and vertical.

Grab the ends of the connector/adapter and pull on it away from the drive. This will expose the standard SATA connectors underneath. These adapters are sometimes used in laptops.
