R-studio alternate for carving

June 30th, 2025, 20:07

Apart from licensing issue posted , I want to know any good commercial software for photo recovery (except UFS which is too costly)
Though R-studio shows required folders in recovery tree ,all photos , videos are corrupt. Raw recovery doesn't show any photos.
I would like to buy a software which will recover photos & videos based on camera metadata (models)
I don't want GNU tools like photorec etc.
can anyone pls. suggest any good alternative.
Thank you

Thanks I will give it a try .I want to test JPEG-Repair Toolkit by joep as well.
I have CNWrecovery forensic dongle but it is bit clumsy & I haven't used in years.
Currently trying UDMA but I always doubt its carving results.

Guys all files are zero filled , I think affected disk ST 1000LM048 is SMR disk & possibly data may not get recovered by any means.

Which is kind of tell tale sign that data was trimmed without looking at individual files. That or ransomware encrypted.

except UFS which is too costly

Did you knw you can get a commercial license for more basic version of UFS Explorer? So for example, I only needed functionality of Standard version for delivering commercial service, so I got commercial license for Standard.

suggest any good alternative.

DMDE is probably most flexible for setting up RAW scan signatures.

Hi
Thanks a lot for replying.
Data is not ransomware encrypted because extensions are unchanged.
It seems files are trimmed (zero filled) ,I do not know whether Translator based recovery is possible with seagate .
I wasn't aware of commercial license for standard version ,that makes it very cost effective. Thanks a lot for suggestion.
Yes I have DMDE professional edition as well , I tried DMDE as well before knowing that actually data was trimmed.

I have had a similar case. I was able to solve it by translator regeneration. Please backup before attempting it.
