Need raw firmware (.bin/.fw) for Samsung SM841 (840 Pro OEM)

August 17th, 2026, 15:10

Hi everyone,

I am trying to recover a bricked Samsung SM841 OEM SSD from an HP EliteBook laptop. The drive experienced a microcode/panic lock failure and became completely unresponsive (not detected in BIOS).
I have successfully opened the casing and managed to force the Samsung MDX controller into Safe Mode / ROM Mode (SATA_BOOT) by shorting the correct test points (Pins 6 & 7 based on continuity testing to GND). The drive is now recognized in Windows Device Manager as a generic "SATA_BOOT" device under SCSI\Disk IDs.

Since HP has scrubbed their older SoftPaqs from their official support pages, I am unable to acquire the correct OEM firmware package.
Could anyone please share a raw firmware dump or binary file (.bin / .fw) for this specific HP OEM drive?
Here are the exact drive specs from the casing sticker:
    Model: MZ-7PD2560/0H7 (MZ7PD256HAFV-000H7)
    HP P/N: 717354-001
Original Firmware: DXM05H6Q (or compatible HP OEM release like DXM06B0Q / DXM06H6Q)

Any help or upload link would be highly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Are you trying to recover the drive or your data? A firmware upload won't result in a data recovery.

Just need that firmware as described in post to get that SSD up and running again so that I then can get my data.

The drive probably has a corrupt Flash Translation Layer. A firmware update won't fix that.

Might be, have no idea. That is a start, now I need to upload new firmware. That is my plan at least.

I have got this link https://www.station-drivers.com/index.p ... 46&lang=en
that seams to be correct driver, but can´t get it to download. I have sent an email to forum admin about it just a minute ago.

Mine is not to reason why, but I found this. However, I don't know if it is suitable. I wouldn't apply it in any case.
