The drive is wd5000audx from a DVR
I am trying to recover a deleted footage from that drive but no luck so far. I cloned the drive, before cloning I checked the drive's hexadecimals, it was full of data. Then I check the image of the clone and they are identical, again full of data.
I tried R-studio and disk drill and both of them couldn't find anything, even the footage that is still present in the drive. What am I doing wrong here?

Most DVRs use proprietary codecs. Try myCCTV trial version by SysDev. Should work for you. Then you can by a one time use license.

wow, I didn't even check Dolphin's price, so far myCCTV going so well up to this point. I was thinking whether get any UFS version that also can handle CCTV. I already have klennet carver, DMDE, r studio, disk drill, Joep's JPEG repair so I am not sure about buying UFS as well.

While UFS can quite often find the DVR file system, it cannot play previews or search for particular timestamps like myCCTV. As myCCTV is owned by SysDev (UFS) then it has all the benefits of UFS plus added functionality such a previews and searches. So if you are just looking at UFS for DVR recovery there is little point in getting it.

Dolphin has a one-week price which is more affordable. I believe they will also add new formats if you provide appropriate feedback. They do also have a free trial.

SysDev have been offering the same service for several years now. While everyone needs to buy the best product for the job at hand. Supporting Ukraine is also a top priority for me.
