November 22nd, 2006, 19:14

do you know that such utikty does exist?

November 23rd, 2006, 15:08

I know mhdd does perform the operation, but marking many bad sector is a long operation, and it is NOT performable via f.e. a batch file.....

Victoria or Mhdd can remap erase llf bad sector good tool for badsector without fw problem .

November 25th, 2006, 15:41

my problem is that I want to eliminate the red and brown block (weak sector), but even after a LLf, a remap with mhdd or Victoria, these weak sectors remain!!!
Problem is (i think) that my re-locate table is full.... smart tell me that i have raw sector 650!!!!! (max i remember had to be 50.......)
For this reason I have used makebad command by MHDD to transform these weak sector in really bad sector, so at least Windows mark they as defective and OS no longer get access to they....
But use makebad is a very long time operation: one sector per time......

The Last hope for u is pc3000 clear glist function and use logical scanning by using functions add defect to plist .

November 26th, 2006, 9:53

I understand, but if hd have so many defect that the p/g list may not cover all, the only way i think is manually mark ad UNC these weak sector, so formatting under windows, will let that OS no longer have access to it.
My hd is so damage that you may think to it as a very old hd when no defect re-allocation table exist......... ;-)
BTW with the procedure i described: mark with mhdd -->makebad command, now (even if chkdsk tell me I have bad sector) hd works very well with no slowdown at all.
For this reason I'm searchin an utility able in manually generate UNC sectors......
Thanks to all!!!

O, thank you!
The problem is that I have a sector, attept to write to which hungs the HDD forever (until shutdown). So I does not need to scan the disk - just mark. Looikng into readme and faq, I still have no idea - could your program just mark BB without previous scanning?
I usually use Victoria, lot less experienced with MHDD.

I suspect that MakeBad makes use of the ATA Write Uncorrectable command to flag a sector as "pseudo-uncorrectable". CHKDSK would then add this sector to the $BadClus metafile.
