Is it still possible to run hddscan 3.1 hidden from the command line for scripting? And if so, which arguments can you use?

Thanks up front for any replies ...

Sorry
The last version of HDDscan with command line is 2.8
It is kinda hard to make command line in 3.1 and I am too lazy to do that now :)

I've been using 2.8 with command line since some time, setting the spin down
time of some external USB drives, which are switched off sometimes and therefore have to be reprogrammed than with a small script. Now, I have a new drive case with JM chip, which is only supported in 3.x.
Since I don't know any other tool, which can acces PM via USB, I would really really
please you to support basic commandline switches for spindown times.

Another solution would be to extract the USB code to a small program e.g. hddpm or so, which has commandline switches only for power management.

Sorry ;-)
Still searching for the command line solution ...

Are there any exported DCOM objects, directX interfaces by hddscan 3.1 ?
Possibly there would be a vb script solution to access these to
control harddisc power management to automate this ?

HDDScan has no COM objects to access main code

Hi doomer,

I think, your software is the best which can be found. There are still a lot of people with
noisy external hds out there, which don't even know about your tool.
Most people including several "experts" proclaim, that it is not possible at all to control
IDE drives power management via USB. I think also of the environmental advantage.

For me, the GUI of 3.1 version is far nicer than the previous versions.

Nevertheless, what do you think of putting the code for power management /spindown of the latest usb2SATA bridges to a modified 2.8 version, let's say 2.8.1.
Probably there are only some control commands to move back ?
