Do you need CR2 files for photoshop editing?
If you don't need to work with photo-editing sw (just need jpg), you can use JpegDigger tool to extract it from cr2 container.

AFAIK there's no such tool. Tools that claim to repair CR2 files simply extract JPEG (or try to).

If it's simply "header" corruption you can use intact CR2 to repair that using a hex editor, https://youtu.be/sOVIHypOOiI?t=166

9 out 10 times corruption occurs after undelete from SSDs and such, such files can not be repaired, check in HxD or similar if this is the case.

My file is broken, can you fix it? This is the kind of question that you get from clients. I would expect that someone who has been involved in data recovery for the past 20 years would be able to ascertain the nature of the damage and at least formulate a more precise question.

For example, other than bad sectors, the data could have flipped bits, or the file could be wrongly carved or reassembled from fragments left after a FAT32 reformat, or it could be a deleted file that has been partially overwritten, or its header could be overwritten by ransomware, etc. Alternatively, since the file consists of a JPEG image plus TIFF data, it could be the case that one part is intact.

Each scenario warrants a different approach with a different solution. For example, Klennet Carver is one tool that can reassemble file fragments from a formatted volume. Others have already addressed the ransomware and embedded JPEG issues.

Thank you!

The first 189 photos are perfect and the others for some reason were already generated corrupted. I intend to post the links of some bad photos for verification. Thanks in advance!

I tried to extract jpg from CR2 that you've passed to me, but they're to corrupt.

On pic above you can see that file IMG_4030.CR2 is very bad so jpegdigger can't do anything!
I examinated your bad CR2 files with an hex editor, they have all same issue:
512 redundant byte blocks

Example of IMG_4030.CR2

Those bad CR2 file can't be fixed, they do not contain any useful data!!

This means that all those bad CR2 files were damaged from the font or your data recovery (cloner) tool failed.
Have you done some kind of raw scan recovery?
What tool did u use?

What is the size after compression with 7Zip? If there is that much redundancy, the compression ratio should be huge.

The compression ratio of the good file suggests that the TIFF section is using lossless compression. This would imply that even minor damage in that area would be impossible to repair, I would think.

Is it possible that these sectors are the predefined data pattern that is returned in response to TRIM?

The byte histogram gives away immediately this file is not repairable since so many byte values occur at same frequency. JPEG and also the CR2 image data which is lossless JPEG, would give more random distribution. In first byte histogram we see byte values occur throughout file same number of times, this has to be some repeating block, you can immediately tell by just looking that that.
