 Post subject: Low level format time is to long?

Hi
My pc harddisk is unavilaible, i was find this site from google and download last hddguru low level format software.
I started to format, but its tine to long. Between 3-10 hours. Is it normal?

It’s not normal, i think. To my knowledge, low level format will take within half an hour on an 80 GB harddrive.

Hi!
Not sure if a low level format will fix the drive problem!

Anyway two things are missing here......how fast is the pc and how large is the drive capacity. Its obvious twice the size = 2x the time and the same goes for cpu speed.
If the drive has any bad sectors to be reallocated it could easily take as long as you describe.

A test scan in MHDD or Victoria would give you a good idea of the drive's condition. You would need to take note of the read times in milliseconds. I often use Victoria for windows and when I run a test scan I set the timeout to 250ms.
