there not many programs that can total fix jpegs

are you getting draw line failed.

if so that because of the program compressing the file everytime its opened.

I've got thumbnails that are showing up but when I click on them they open different pictures. I also have a lot of files with thumbnails but when I click on this nothing comes up.

when copying files from a main pc drive to a external drive the copy process failed. From there the folders with all the pictures disappeared. I imaged the drive and used get data back and recovered all the pictures but many of them seem missing, damaged and misrepresented.

Hi, sorry but its unclear to me which drive you are working on. Main pc or external?
Take a look at the files you have recovered so far. Check and compare the file sizes.
Are many files showing 0 bytes?

i'm running off the destination drive, not the new one. I used my ddi to do a complete clone of the drive. There are many files with 0 file size.

Simon, can you clarify what went wrong and what you have done since?

From your description I understand you have since imaged your main pc hard disk to what was the external disk and you are now trying to recover files from the image?

Sorry but I can see 2 or 3 different scenarios here and it needs to be clear.

Recovering files of a 0 bytes size usually means they have been overwritten.

From the sounds of what's happening here, I would use something like "Recover My Files".

It searches for file signatures and then attempts to ressurrect the file structure, and with this software it give you a "running commentry" of all raw files recovered so far, and you can view them at a good size and evaluate their validity.

this is another program we use for repairing some jpeg files
your have to buy it but you can test your files before purchasing it

http://www.hketech.com/JPEG-recovery/index.php

Do you find that some photos recovered by digital photo recovery software are corrupted, e.g.:

Splits into two (or even more) parts, and
In between there is part of another photo, and
The color of the lower part(s) may be changed, and
There is a shift of the contents of the photo

if you dont want to buy the product yet send me one of the corrupt files
and i try and fix it for you
