I have a Seagate 250GB hard drive and using Media Tools professional for Cloning, but the drive gets stuck in various areas and the timer jumps up in the time remaing 120HRs + and takes long to go through the errors. Is there another software that can get through the problem areas faster to complete a full clone of the failing drive? Thank you |

Hello, On Seagate, the error recovery part in the SA have some problem some times, and freeze the drive out. You need to send a software reset immediately if the read gets too much time, before the code reach the bad part. Try another, smarter software... Regards, Janos |

Media Tools is ok, but for a drive like this, you'll need a hardware based solution that can power on/off the drive. Not sure what your goals are here but there are plenty of recommendations on this forum for various different devices. Personally, I prefer the Deepspar but there are other units on the market. A software app won't work for you here, unless you've got a long time for the drive to image. You also risk killing it if its got a weak head. |
