Hi,

in a moment of panic i flashed the firmware of my 7200.11 from SD15 to AD14 with this update (h**p://support.seagate.com/ad14disty/AD14-AllMoose.zip). After that, i saw that the update was provided for firmware-version SD14 and not explicit for SD15. The updateprocess do not failed. there was no error or something like that.
now my question: is the AD14-Firmware-Version a problem for my harddrive? at the moment, windows 2k3 server do not boot when the updated-drive ist connected.

Hi,

After a moment of panic, the recovery price will be double or more, i think. :mrgreen:
Additionally, now 1/10 part of the DR companies can do the DR before You missed up the SA.

I suggest to seek for a reallly professional help, if You want your data back...

doesn't there exist another way?
maybe flash the fireware again back to the old one with the old version? the question is: who can provid me SD15 as an flashable version?

i am sorry, but this is not so simple like a cell phone with one flash chip....

The drive's firmware are in more places including the SA in the platters!
The firmware contains a lot of critical calibration and adaptive parts.
You have mixed up the SA and created a really bad state.
Forget it, to someone can help you to fix your drive!
Only a really skilled pro can help you if it is still possible...

mhmm...bad news. on other question: should the firmware-update-software actually check, if the installed hdd has the right firmware? if yes, I wonder why there no error occured...

I think, only the authors knows the correct answer for this question.
I can imagine, the updater only check for the phisical parameters, like the new fw can fit into the sa, or similar....
I don't think, this even cares about the P/G lists or similar, so the error logs can be overwritten too.

Use MHDD, see if you can scan the drive at all

When the drive is in that state you can't go on after the BIOS screen. Hi, how did you reflash it? Can you post the procedure?

Yesterday night I updated the firmware. I downloaded the image from the seagate site (it can be downloaded after validation of serial number, if the drive is "affected"). As all of you know, the drive in that conditions (after being reflashed with AD14 firmware) cannot go on the BIOS screen. I just connected the power cable after the bios screen and the red light in my PC case turned off.
The update process finished successfully, the PC powered off. When I pushed the PC power button I noticed my drive was working again :)
I must say that in the seagate technical support chat somebody told me that I had to do a RMA and somebody told me that my drive was bricked and I had to buy another one.
I am happy I didn't listen to them.

HI FRIENDS

I HAVE SAME SEAGATE ST3500320AS, S/N 9QM2458X, FIRMWARE SD15, DATA CODE 08373, 500GB, SATA, NOT WORKING, NOT DETECTED BY BIOS. SPOKE TO SEAGATE AND THEY SAID
THAT DRIVE LOCKED OT FIRMWARE PROBLEM. AFTER LOOKING IN GOOGLE WE FOUND THAT THERE IS A PATCH FOR FIRMWARE. DIDN'T FIND IN SEAGTE SITE.

CAN ANYBODY BE SO KIND AND SEND ME THE FRMWARE UPDATE. IF ANYBODY CAN SEND THE PROCEDURE ALTHOGHT I COLLECTED SOME DATA, WILL BE GREAT.


I'LL APPRECIATE YOUR ASSISTANCE.

hi
i m sachin from india ahmedabad.
after long search on net finally i got this firmware update utility.

check this page just input your hdd's data and u will find does yr hdd has firmware problem or not and if there is firmware problem then go to the forth step and download yr firmware upgrade software
