Windows registry fixing (question)

Hello gurus,

Somebody know about a downloadable registry fixer wich can work on external file if the windows can't boot at all?

Avast registry tool can export and import registry from crashed system as long as file system is still intact

Also, last time I checked UBCD for Windows can 'mount' a registry, and then you can run whatever tool you'd like. Used to use it all the time for virus/spyware fixes.

usually, if the XP systems i repair have trashed registry hives, i just use a bootable CD (Bart, UBCD.. anything with a copy / rename file command or tool) & use the last snapshot from the system volume restore (repository),, its like 4 files , sam, Security, system, software. just copy over to c:\windows\system32\config & rename accordingly, any questions just ask & i will explain a little better (only works if system volume restore has not been turned off)
