Anyone built their own HDDup power controller?

I'm looking at these schematics and it includes an Atmel at90s2313... I'm assuming this is going to need to be programmed with something? Are there any other solutions other than this?

I presume you'd need to code the pic to convert RS232 signals to power up/down commands to drive the power relay.

I was thinking more about this last night, and if you are just wanting a way to turn power on and off via com port, you don't actually need anything more than a couple of diodes and a relay.

I guess the trick would be getting it to work with the program then.

Is it your own program or someone else's? It's much simpler if the code is yours, obviously! ;-)

Yep. Unfortunately it is not mine. It is a commercial program that sells a power controller board but also includes the schematic. I was trying to see how feasible it would be to just make my own.

You'd have to reverse engineer their com protocol too in that case. Do you have a logic analyser?

at90s2313 this one need to be programed as well

Do you ask the owner of HDDUP. maybe he can give you the source code for this
