Hi guys I have a problem with my Seagate Barracuda 5400.1 (ST340015A) hard drive.
It becomes useless due to firmware corruption, currently it has f/w 3.01 installed.
This damage was done to my hard drive when I was transfering some data between two hdds
a power surge occurs, I was unable to boot after the power was restored then when i entered in the BIOS I became
The detection was ST341015A ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! instead of ST340015A.
Now how can I restore or update its firmware, I tried to search over the internet but all of my
efforts ended in smoke.Im 100% sure its a firmware problem because most of the hdd reparing
softwares like HDAT2 reports the firmware is corrupted but they were unable to repair this just
giving un-correctable CRC errors. Please don't tell me about softwares like a-ff repair station or salvation data etc...
I assure you that my Hard Drive is not internally damaged, its quite old but still in a good working condition and cables are also perfectly attached.
I would be thankful 2 you if you tell me the name of any free hdd firmware writing software
(except salvation data & aff-repair station) in your knowledge or if you can give me the link of seagate firmware update utility which is designed for my hard drive. Thanks !
