Hi. I found your site looking for help about some doubts with my hard disks. Hope anyone can guide me a little:

I recently purchased a SamsungHD502HJ drive, 500gb of capacity. I have installed a free program called "Active Hard Disk Monitor". I installed it mainly to keep myself informed about the temperature. What caught my attention was that the program has a "Healt Status" percentage bar, and that for my old WDC, that reports 6 month of work, it report a health status of 90%, but for the new harddisk, with only 7day of work, it report a 84% of "health". Anyway it says is ok, but, maybe im missing something, isnt supposed that a new hard disk will display "100%" of health in normal conditions?

Thanks in advance!

The fact that the attributes with normalised values of 252 are given scores of 99% rather than 100% indicates that the author of Active Hard Disk Monitor doesn't understand how to interpret them.

Similarly, the Spinup Time attribute may in fact be normal. It is on the basis of this attribute that the author rates the drive so poorly. See the following threads for comparisons.
