| Post subject: | Removing DDO on Maxtor HD |
Hi. I have an old 1.6GB Maxtor HD that I cannot use because it was set up with a Dynamic Drive Overlay (DDO) so that my old PC could see the whole disc. That computer is long gone, but I am trying to remove the DDO so that I can recover the data. I read that MHDD could help restore the drive capacity, so I am hoping that I can use MHDD. (The computer I am using only has a CD drive and the HD, no operating system, so I am looking for a bootable CD solution. MHDD runs fine for me - I just don't know if it will help remove the DDO). Can anyone suggest a solution or how to use MHDD in this case? Thanks in advance. |

I don't believe MHDD knows anything about Disk Drive Overlays. AIUI, a DDO is a logical concept that adds INT13 extensions by means of additional code that is loaded into RAM from track 0 of the boot drive. You may like to try the suggestions in the following thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=16842#p112128 |
