How do I swap hard drives in my freeview recorder?

November 8th, 2010, 5:52

Are there any guides or software programs that can help me learn how to set up a hard disk so my freeview recorder will be compatible with it? Also what file types would my movies have to be for the box to play them?

I read somewhere that it has to be converted from a transport stream to a program stream. Also I was told it is similar to MPEG2 when it records tv. My first attempt will be on an old thompson 160gb freeview recorder.

I want to end up with a fully working device but with the option of connecting whatever drive I want to it.

So what filesystem do they use? is the drive sata? Can I force my own media onto it?

ADVICE APPRECIATED.

Hi,

Your question is "Probably" out of the scope for hddguru. Your best bet is to search for the many DVR/PVR forums that are on the internet.
