MHDD and ADAPTEC 1420AS ? Do I need a Driver? MHDD wont detect my card.
[ Questions: ] Q0). I assume that MHDD (or similar sw used) would not bypass the settings of my Adaptec Controller Card. e.g.: Read/Access settings; DMA on or off)? . I want to use the internal settings of the card to improve its handling of bad drives and sectors...
Q1). Will using a IDE to SATA converter on the on motherboard (or Card) IDE Controller help Detection and Control?
Q2). Does using an IDE (controller) to SATA adapter strip away the extra IDE control and performance, or does it add a better port to MHDD (and similar)?
Q3). I assume MHDD has better low level control than DDrescue?
Q4). Can MHDD detect Tracking issues and How?
Q5). BAD Head vs Bad Sector. Which is it? can this be determined with MHDD? (I don't have SD tools for Samsung. I guess I could use a hex editor to do a write test).
[Example:] . Patient: Samsung / 500GB / 2.5 inch HDD . Damage: Locked spindle by warpage (dropped while spinning). . Work Done: Platter swap + using original Patient Circuit Board. . Symptoms: . S1): No tick, tick tick or other than normal retries on specific sectors. . S2): Images to 10GB than every single sector after has read issues.. Sectors passed 10GB take forever to read which basically end up being skipped using MTP, DDRESCUE, RStudio, Winhex (not MHDD yet).
I want to clone the patient Drive obviously. But I'm afraid of using anything that might intentionally make any changes to the patient drive.
Q6). Will MHDD rewrite or relocate data or can I set it to just image and try to read without altering the patient (other than normal wear and tear). Should I actually dare to consider HDDreg?n, since Spinwrong doesn't handle SATA well... FYI: The disk surface is in good condition visually. It does have a few microscopic tracked scratches at 50% but nothing else noticeable.
--- [ On a side note: ]
. 1: [ DDRESCUE vs. DD_RESCUE vs. MTP vs. other bootable recvy progs ]:
. Q7). Is it possible to get MTP to port directly to the drive like MHDD? If MTP claims to bypass the BIOS why does it list drives as "BIOS" or "EBIOS"? . So far they all suck with drives with bad reads.. no matter what you try a drive that has bad reads cant be read with software. I wonder how and if SD or DEx can actually do any better at reading. . I don't want to pay for Hardware readers if they are just going to skip 90% of a good patter.
. 2: [ PC3KF vs. BV? vs. SDF vs. SoftC ]
. Q8). Any N?ND Reader that can handle Sony Camera internal NAND chips or similar? . Who can best handle?: . * NAND flash in TSOP-48, WSOP-48, LGA-52, and BGA-63 packages. . * SANDISK's and APPLE's proprietary Algo/Enc. . PC3KF, BV, SDF, or SoftC? I need stuff that works with today's chips, not just the standard T48. What about the poor souls with MicroSDs ?
