Hi

Try Recover Data for Linux from Recover Data.

http://www.linuxdiskrecovery.com/linux- ... y-on-linux

Or TestDisk.

http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk

Cheers

the problem is that am trying to get the data back from WD10EADS hdd which was dead and i was able to get it back working

in my udma DE i got to know that the partitions are Ext2

with Grep Search i was able to get the LBA`s for those partitions tried to create virtual part. but as acelab TS recommended to try any Linux partition windows based app. which i tested already with the tools you recommended here and also some others but no luck finding it.

in DE i was able to see those many partitions but when i add it to Virtual part. nothing.

with Raw recovery in DE i got some data but all of them are corrupted which made me confused here about it.

is there anything thing missing here or something that i forgot?

thnx for the reply again

My guess is that you are getting a false positive and that the partition you want recovered is XFS. Take a look at it with UFS Explorer and see if my theory is correct. If the clone was good and the file system is somewhat healthy, it will likely just mount under Linux.

Again, i tried it but no results

i guess it is all about the damn Initio chip which came into the USB WD Box

i`ve been reading alot about it with no sucess story on how to bypass this and get the data back.

today i will do my own research about it by buying new one and putting some files on it and taking it out of the box and try to see if its possible to access the data without the usb pcb (initio) box.

meanwhile any suggestions are welcome here guys.

thnx

heheheh seems that i got it here

the damn Initio chip encrypts the data inside the hdd without it no way its just an empty drive

in a simple word: I know i can do it,,, its just the matter of time....

Main parition should be FAT32 or NTFS if it's a WD MyBook. In this case, yes it would be encrypted. But it's not a difficult case :D

i suggest that you buy new one, copy any file to it, remove it from the usb box then try to get ur file from it
then you will understand what i mean.

Sir,
my above post was accurate, it's using smartware, like I said easy job and data partition should be FAT32 or NTFS. Do a search for smart ware on the forum and you should find a pointer or two.

This thread should help you:
disk-with-sata-usb-adapter-remove-virtual-rom-t18492.html

The OP dissected a HP OEM version of a WD Smartware drive.
