Problems with HDD low level format software

May 3rd, 2011, 22:02

Hello. I am new to this forums so this topic may have been covered and I just did not see it.

I have used HDD's Low Level Formater software for some time on a computer running Vista. I just upgraded the OS (Clean Install). I installed the HDD Formating software and it worked fine for a few days. The other day when I opened up the software, the software did not show any of the hard drives on the system. I uninstalled the software and reinstalled the software, and it worked fine. The problem is that the min I close the software after it has been installed and then reopen it; the software does not show any hard drives including the system drives.

Any sugestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Comptec.

As I replied in this thread a moment ago, to another member...

... I don't know who actually wrote/supports that utility, but it doesn't actually claim to be Vista-compatible:

Operating System: MS Windows 2000SP4/2003/XP

If you explain exactly what you are using it for, perhaps another reader will be able to suggest an alternative utility for you to try on Vista for that task; or perhaps you could use a PC with an OS from the list above?

I've come across the same problem using Windows 7 Pro. First time I loaded the software all my HDD, USB, etc drives showwed up. After restarting the software nothing

However I have found a solution (for win7 pro anyway) :D All I did was to run the program as administrator and all the drives showed up again.

@Vulcan wrote, that the software does not show to support Vista .

Sorry, but when a software does not support the older Windows version,
why should it support the newer Windows 7 ????

You are lucky that it works, but I wouldnt trust ....
