June 22nd, 2011, 21:03

My uncle had a laptop and he broke it by throwing it down and then he threw it in the rubbish.Wht I want to know is that, does this mean that the hard drive and the software is broken too and it is all gone and no one will ever be able to recover it?>????????

It depends, was the laptop on when it was thrown? If it wasn't, it is possible your data is all still there and accessible via another computer and an ide/sata to usb adapter that you can pick up on ebay fairly cheap.

If it was on when it was thrown, it's likely there is damage to the platters.

However if it is a solid state drive, you'd have much better odds at recovering your data.

a lot of ifs. if you get us more info, we can get you answers with less ifs.

yank the hard drive out, & plug it into a USB external & see if the Drive Survived, if not see if you can use the ram in another laptop
