External Hard Disks not Detected

I have three external hard disks, one of WD, one of Iomega and the third one a hitachi. Till yesterday, they were working fine with the laptop but i noticed a software in my Programs List and i thought it was something unimportant and uninstalled it. The result now is that, the laptop has stopped detecting the external hard disks altogether. Although if i try using a USB Pen drive, it works absolutely fine.

Please Help !!!!!

What OS?
Might be able to try system restore if xp, vista, win7
Have you check device manager?
