Dear Forum,

I am in the process of building a new box and I am going to have

an 80 Gig HDD (until I can afford an SSD) as C: strictly for Windows 7,

and D: for my program files. I will have 2 additional HDD's in my box:

a 1.5TB Hitachi 7K3000 7200 RPM SATA 3 64MB Cache PN 0F12114 as my

storage HDD and a 2TB Hitachi 5K3000 5940 RPM SATA 3 32MB Cache

PN 0F12117 as my backup HDD. I want to pre-partition all of the HDD's

prior to installing Windows 7. After the installation I will then format

the partitions as NTFS.

I plan on making each Hitachi one big extended MS-DOS partition

and creating multiple logical drives ranging from 30 to 500 Gigs.

My question is: Considering the sizes of the Hitachis, will Magic

Boot Disk v2.0 allow me to do this pre-partitioning in DOS in a

timely manner, or can I do this faster in "Partition Magic" or

"Partition Magic type" programs?

If MBD will NOT allow me to do the pre-partitioning, do you have

a suggestion as to a "Partition Magic type" program to use?

It is a huge question. I need to check out the status first. I am not sure whether Partition Magic type program will work in your case or not. As of my knowledge MBD will help you to do a pre-partitioning as you think. If it will not allow, then only the question of moving to Partition Magic type program comes. Confirming anything on both these things, I need to cross check and make sure first.

all programs you have mentioned are outdated. Note NTFS version difference in win7 ( NTFS v5) I suggest to use acronis disk editior . Why to boot from slower old 80 gb disk? Remember Less drives = less power consumption ,less heat generation.

well just use acronis partition magic to create what you like faster in GUI Mode, if you like just in DOS mode.
