I tried every available software . Almost all DR software companies replied there software cant access tape drives.
only software from ( http://www.nucleustechnologies.com/tape ... tware.html / http://www.taperecoverysoftware.com/) has completey failed

Complexity of the file system will depend on the vendors product. Yes there are some issues, but it's not required to be a super guru. Only dealing with partially overwritten tape drives requires super guru status.

The reason recovery is not possible of what you are describing is because of the tape itself and whatever issues it has and not necessarily with another tape that is "working" condition. Therefore, recovery as a process is possible, just not in your case.

There is one other software package I know of that is called 'NovaXchange'.
It does about the same as MediaMerge but for a fraction of the price.

NovaXchange can read ASCII and EBCIDIC data and convert between the two. It cannot open say a Backup Exec backup file and read the files inside that backup type.
