Hi,

I used Data Rescue 3 to search for a Final Cut Project file, which I deleted awhile ago. The software found a bunch of them but I can't open them in Final Cut Pro. The program responds "Unable to open project file".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's more than likely corrupt, due to partially overwriting it with a new file.

Is there a way to uncorrupt it, salvage part of it?

You have already saved them, right? So, this means that you salvaged them partially. The problem is the file is incomplete, with missing content. This is what makes it corrupt and unviewable by the application.
