Post subject:  How To Use MHDD With External USB IDE Drive?

Hello

This drive has no drive letter. It's a Maxtor Fireball. I hope to recover data from the disk. I do not care to save the disk, just the data.

HDTune can detect and scan it. HDTune says it has LBA errors.

I'm using a netbook with an internal SATA drive. But, it's the external USB-IDE drive whose data i want to recover.

In MHDD, I run Port with:
#PRIMARY_ENABLED=FALSE
#AUTODETECT_ENABLED=FALSE

and

#PRIMARY_ENABLED=TRUE
#AUTODETECT_ENABLED=TRUE

See attached images for result.

Which is the external ide drive? Can MHDD scan my drive? Can I do TOF?

thanks!

If you want data off this then run ddrescue and clone it to another HDD. Then try to run rstudio in free mode. If you find your data then buy it and recover it. Stop messing around with this if you want data off of it and clone it to another HDD then work from there to find your data.

"Ares C64K" - This has a serious failure. The ID is made from ROM because the Service area is inaccessible.

These maxtors suffer commonly with damage to the SA, but the symptom could suggest a number of problems.

R-Studio or DD will not help you. Only a professional with the right skills and equipment can get this done.

Ann, see the status clearly and then recommend him what to do.

It's a simple fix for a pro (this drive has tend to G-List Overflow, may be this one is the case for this one). But, you need SA Access to check out to confirm.
