HDD GURU FORUMS

I am trying to format laptop Toshiba drive with known bad sectors with HDD LLF tool and it is stuck at %35. I hoped that low level format will help to mark them. Any chance I still can format this drive or should I use some other tool to get rid of bad sectors first?

More than likely formatting will not work. Probably have a hardware failure.

How many times have you attempted to format? If more than once, did all attempts get stuck at the 35% mark?

It was definitely hardware failure.... of my monitor-mounted usb port Connected external enclosure to the back USB port of my comp and it worked this time without a hiss.
