I am wondering about that preamp id message, it should not be 0000. Is your pcb correctly attached to the HDA? |

Is your pcb correctly attached to the HDA? yes correctly attached already bricked during firmware upgrade because im not used cfs file. im directly unpack lod file from freedos.img and flashed with seatool bootable cd. not used orginal iso have floppy image.. you can preamp reset in my dump by serial https://www.data-medics.com/forum/threa ... post-18605 |

I modded the rom so that it might load the old code from the other slot, try this. If it doesn't help, the problem is probably physical.

I expect that the drive has been updated with the wrong LOD. There is one LOD for 4-head configurations, and another for drives with 5 or 6 heads. I think serial numbers starting with "x24" correspond to 5 heads. http://www.users.on.net/~fzabkar/HDD/GR-CC4H.TXT These LODs contain ROM segments as well as 4 SA overlays. |

I thought my disk had 4 heads. my mistake GRCC4H4H.LOD how i can flash lod file directly to spi flash. |

I got a 2nd ST2000DM001 drive and a serial TTL cable hoping to learn if forcing a firmware update is worth the risk. As you can see below the two drives I have are not comparable. I updated the firmware with an ISO, and it crashed. I am sure I did it correctly, but now it doesn't respond at all. There are no important files inside, but I want to refurbish the disk. I have a CH341A programmer that can both program the BIOS and has a TTL port. I have previously repaired an HDD with F3 commands. The HDD preamp seems to be erased; I opened a topic on this forum before, but it wasn't helpful. Since the HDD is not recognized, I cannot use the same disk. What method can I use to recover the data? Same scenario but my both HDDs are retail, not HP? My dead HDD; ST2000DM001 9YN164-500 FW-CC4B |
