I have same problem with my Samsung HD322HJ Rev A (2009.09).
After flash with DELL package is now visible like HD321HJ, but is detected by system. Anyone have fw for this drive type? Thanks for help.

Is this the update package that you applied to your drive (Version 1AC00017, A00)?
http://downloads.dell.com/SATA/R220296.exe

What was the original firmware version of your drive?

Hi,
this is exactly the update package that I have applied to my drive. HDD is detected by BIOS and Samsung utility like HD321HJ(probably 8MB cache) firmware 1AC01117. Originaly is it HD322HJ 16MB cache. I am not sure with the original firmware version, update was not planned... Is there any possibility to identify original firmware on label? ther is nothing like 1AC0/1AG0.

The update rewrote the firmware on your PCB but did not touch the firmware in the reserved area on the platters (Maintenance Cylinders). The problem is that the firmware on the PCB must be compatible with the firmware in the MC. If you pick the wrong firmware, then you could render your drive inaccessible.

Can you read the ROM with the drive in its present state? You can obtain the demo version of SHT via this thread:

SHT v3.0.2 New:

How to connect a terminal cable on a Samsung drive ?
http://www.hddoracle.com/viewtopic.php? ... 189&p=2786

A dump of the terminal log may help us to eliminate incompatible ROM choices (the RAM loadpoints will be incompatible).

I hope that I can read the ROM. SHT software and tvicport downloaded, but i am not sure with building the terminal cable. I saw that I will need serial connection(RS232) to drive, my PC still have COM port so i dont need USB convertor. I dont saw schematics for terminal cable. Its just RX and TX (pins 2,3) from COM port to drive?

I will be able to read the ROM. Ehm need I to known some offset of ROM?
But i think i will need something like this: http://hddguru.com/articles/2005.10.01- ... schematic/ , I am right?
If you will have exactly same firmware like my original FW, which is stored in the reserved area on the platters, then have I good chance to restore my fotos?
Is there a chance for original partitions? Btw: Thank you for ur replies and help.

Adapters based on the MAX232 chip (5V) will not be able to handle the lower LVTTL I/O voltages. Most people choose USB-TTL adapters with 3.3V I/O (which should work with your drive), but even these are inappropriate for today's 1.8V I/O.

See http://www.hddoracle.com/viewtopic.php? ... 192&p=1779

If you upload the ROM and a terminal log, then this should help us to determine compatibility. If SHT can read the firmware modules on the platters, then that would be very helpful also.

I have found this one with PL2303 chip:
http://www.neven.cz/kategorie/male-spot ... l2303-cip/
The output switching range is 0.4 to 2.4V for 3.3V LVTTL and 0.4 to 2.2V for 2.5V LVTTL. Can be?

The "ds_pl2303HXD_v1_4_4.pdf" datasheet states that the VIL and VIH switching points are 0.25 x Vdd and 0.7 x Vdd for 1.8V and 2.5V supplies, and 0.3 x Vdd and 0.7 x Vdd for a 3.3V supply.

The minimum output voltage ranges are ...

    0.4V - 1.25V for Vdd = 1.8V
    0.4V - 1.85V for Vdd = 2.5V
    0.4V - 2.4V for Vdd = 3.3V

In practice you will probably find that the actual specs are much better than these guaranteed minima, but you shouldn't count on it.

BTW, be aware that there are clones of the Prolific chip. Prolific's latest drivers will refuse to work with these clones.

Hi , i was able to read ROM and content of service area on the platter, MCF file/modules and ROM file are here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/0jowc19lldksz ... J.rar?dl=0

I hope that are files what you will need to identify original fw. Could u check it and let me know? Thank you.

I was hoping to be able to match the MOVLY001 SA module to a suitable donor ROM, but this module is empty. I wonder if the demo version of SHT is crippled in this area???

Perhaps you could look for firmware resources that match "1AC28yrB.d11", or maybe some kind soul could help you with same.

I did have a look in the HDD Guru files area, but I didn't find anything. :-(

Here are excerpts from the FSI and BI_RESLT modules:

Hi ! I didn't check the resources but for drives prior to Trinity (classic samsung) overlay module is OVERLAY and not MOVLY001.

Maybe SHT DEMO have a bug as well as they keep updating it and correcting bugs. SHT DEMO is a VERY OLD version of SHT and might not work properly with some drives.

This should be an easy fix for someone with a full version of SHT or any other working Samsung firmware utility like PC-3000, Etc ...

Regards and good luck.

@balgator, can you show us a terminal log for the drive during power-up? BTW, I'm not sure I am asking for the right thing (1AC28yrB.d11). There appear to be other numbers which may be more relevant.

Hi guys,
tomorow i will have second PC(notebook) so i will be probably able to capture terminal log for the drive during power-up. I will try to read again MOVLY001/MOVLY007/OVERLAY SA modules.

I think that it will be hard to fix without a proper firmware tool that works with Samsung.

SHT will do the job but costs $200 USD.

Sorry, i don't see any cheaper alternative unless somehow you can find out a way to match ROM with overlay by flashing something to the drive with the vendor tools,

But then again, this would be very easy to fix with something like full version of SHT.
