Hi, my laptop has a HDD problem (or so it seems, I checked RAM and other stuff and it all seems fine). I formatted the drive with the Low Level Format Tool but when I try to install Windows on the drive it can't do it. It says something is missing or that there's no drive or Trap Exception etc. etc.

Is there any good HDD reapair tool that I could try? Or do I have to buy a new HDD and that's it?

Thank you for any info!

I formatted it again, via SATA-USB connection on an other PC and then run CrystalDiskInfo which said the status is GOOD. I installed the disk back into the laptop, tried installing Windows but again, there's an error. It always stops somewhere in the beginning of the XP setup (not always at the same point, but at the beginning). Any ideas?

Hi, Go to the BIOS and change the IDE mode to legacy or ide mode. Not AHCI mode.

otherwise, what media are you using, what is the laptop, have other users had trouble(google) what is the error, just detail as much as you can.

BTW mate, for future reference. We can only see and know what you have posted. etc etc isn't a good description, nor is "there is an error" there are thousands of windows errors, some meaningful some not. would help to be as detailed as possible first round..
cheers

Great, yes it is called different things by different vendors, and we have a lot of this issue in our new laptop fleets, and PC suites.
