Self-Scan will ERASE Vendor and ATA track.
When you finish SS drive sometimes can drop to F> too (it happened with me).
If so you can load APP code to RAM and drive will start spinning. You can then save APP code, ATA, Vendor .....

What tools are you using ? The "same" PC3K ?

Please post the question again on the Acelab forum and i will reply there.
If you have a LEGAL pc3k (UDMA) you shouldn't have any issue to post on Acelab forum and we can move the conversation there. If you are STILL using that PCI version "made in china" .... well, better ask to the one who sold it to you :)

Regarding STCom Tools F3 :

First of all you connect the drive to TTL and run the tool, then you detect the firmware address, buffer adress and module address. You click on the backup FW tab and you backup all of your firmware - (do not run at a very high baud rate as it might produce errors).
Also backup the tracks - Vendor, APP, CERT, etc .... ALL OF THEM.
Now Run SS at level 2. Use AA option.
If the drive goes to F> use STCom on Class F boot and load APP code and select SAVE TO DISK also. DO NOT DO THIS TO CERT. Only load the app code, Vendor and ATA and save to disk. Boot that way. Drive should start spinning OK.
You might have to save entire tracks back to the drive because STCom Tools have BUG and INCORRECT FIRMWARE boundries for some families like VENUS. IT WILL RUIN CERT if you try to save it to disk using that tool.
Use the "PATCH" on my site or save entire track if needed (hopefully not).
If SS fails you might need to depop head(s).
Best regards.

This :

Copy HDDInfo to the STCom Tools folder and replace the existing file.

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK AND ALLWAYS BACKUP ENTIRE TRACKS WHEN DOING SELF SCAN.
