I was working with wdr 4.00 but could not succeed in writing module in replacement PCB. Is there any significance of module ~id11 in wdr. How i can be confirmed that the modules are right for the HDD. Also, can any guru describe the process of writing module in replacement PCB. Salute to gurus in advance. |

Mod11 is practically like a kernel to OS, so it is important. You can't write it to PCB because it's not supposed to be in PCB - it resides on platters |

You can sometimes regenerate the ROM from MOD 109 plus a few others. Regenerating a WD ROYL ROM from SA MODs: http://malthus.zapto.org/viewtopic.php? ... 2710#p2710 |

The rule is that ROM and the FW modules should belong to the same firmware revision. If you try to load in memory Permanent Overlay (mod 11) from a different revision it will cause debug stop and the drive will RESET. This is a general answer to your general question. If you need a real help put here all details about your drive, otherwise nobody could even try to help you . Keep in mind that the solution might be different for different drive families. |
