I made a little software to create a list of recovered files and share with clients.

Sometimes when have a lot of recovered files with many subfolders, a normal .txt or .CSV files is a bit complicated to check and can be difficult to find important files and folders in a big list.
My soft can export a single executable file (.exe) capable to reproduce folders and file tree like explorer do.
Folders and subfolders are collapsible so is very easy to surf and find each folder and file.
A downloadable demo version is available here: www.listerreport.com
Suggestions and feedbacks are welcome.

I have a batch file to do similar, I would definitely welcome something more modern and configurable. Thanks for your efforts and for sharing.

This is a personal thing, meaning others or you may not think it is important. When I download software, I like the downloads to be named so that in a week I know what I have sitting in my download folder, and what version. For example I wouldn't always know what demoversion.zip is, but listrpt-v1.2-demo.zip would both help me greatly, and I also would know if I needed to download a newer version.

As I said, this is a personal thing, and realise authors may do this for auto download scripts, or other reasons.

cheers

Comments on application:

- The interface looks nice. Well done.
- I'm not sure I like the bold font, maybe let the user configure the font?
- Id like to see sorting on the column headers like you can in windows explorer.
- If you accidentally select a massive folder like C:, there is no way to cancel apart from exiting the app. This function would be great for DR people that are half asleep and stuff up at 2am ;). Thank god you didn't code it so that once it is going, you have to ctrl+Alt+Del, and you can at least cancel somewhat.
- It would be great to be able to have a custom company configuration to put your own DR Firms logo and contact details in. Such as "This report was supplied by XYZ Data Guys and contact details are ..."

General comments:
Is the website supposed to have no links or navigation working ?
It would be nice to see a comparison table on what the demo and paid version differences are before downloading.
I am not sure about the price tag, I guess you can charge what you feel is right, but I think it is a tiny bit steep.

But yes, I really like it so far.

cheers

As HaQue says, needs a bit more work, but looking good..... no problems with the price tag, but only if I could customize it for my company and also play with the font and spacing etc....

I currently use a file listing tool that allows me to generate a list in pretty much any configuration that my clients require, and output it in .txt, .doc, .xls or .pdf formats..... but this can literally run into many thousands of pages...

But as I said.... looking good!!... :good:

Wich column did you need? Actually have size and type, before have also creation and modification date but now is not present

If you want interrupt load operation just click on red cross to close it. Anyway suggestion is right, and a STOP button is better.

Actually (in main soft and in report also) instead of "demo version" can have Company name and contact (is one line text) but also can add a button with company info and logo.

As you see this is a not real website...is only an horrible couple of pages made in night time.

Demo is a full working version, but don't show all folders name and no have any company name.

if you could integrate files integrity such as good or corrupted, and export to txt, pdf, xls, etc file that would be nice.

great job.

Another feature I thought of is if the client could mark the files they want, and output a required_files_from_dr_company.pdf, that would be nice, and different to all the other file listing tools.

lol, we are making a lot of work for you, you will regret sharing ;)

Personally, I find the price rather steep. Snap2HTML is very similar but freeware, and meets my needs at the moment. I'll keep an eye on your program, especially if it incorporates the many helpful suggestions offered.

I try to answer to some questions:

-About font, I will do some changing in next version.
-which column did you suggest? Actually have size and file type. (Before have also "created" and "modified" but actually I have removed)
-If you select a big folder (like c: ) can stop process only closing app.... true. I can add a STOP button.
-About company customization actually can add company name and contacts in main app and report in top blue bar (Is a text line) but can add a button with company info and logo too.
-Demo version is full working but name of folders is partially covered by DEMO.

I have collect good suggestions to make next version

Hi,
you seem to be on the same page as us with your app features.
I don't want to bog you down with too many things right now as I think you have already considered alot of the features.

But to clarify this one:
Quote:
-which column did you suggest? Actually have size and file type. (Before have also "created" and "modified" but actually I have removed)

I didn't mean to add any new columns, but in windows explorer, if you click on a column header it can sort by filename, date, file extension etc. At the moment if you click on a coulmn it doesnt do anything.

New version 1.5 done.

According to suggestions I made some improvements and new features:

-Now fonts can be personalized.
-Any column can be sorted by Name, date, extension, size....ecc
-If you select a big folder (like c: ) process can be interrupted with STOP button
-Now can add company logo and some company info.
-Client can choose some file or folders (for example if he need a partial recovery) and can send the partial list back to you by email with a single click. (no external mail software needed).
-Now some additional info can be shown to client in a little popup when he open the report. (for example some special explanations....)
Updated demo is ready to download.

Please let me know some feedback

I didn't see any response to this request. Header verification aside, if it could look for a pattern (ie, unread or bad sector) within a file and then tag it as being bad, it could prove to be helpful for those who don't have access to DeepSpar Operations Server where it cross-references the sector map when doing a file verification.

In fact I'm thinking about.....
Did you guess just check for a pattern is really useful?
If just only do this is not a reliable method to control the quality of files.

The recovered file software is used to recover the deleted files from the hard drive or the computers. In fact, it is a best software to get back the lost or deleted files back.
